Non-stop music, roving performers, market stalls, and an exciting lineup of food trucks are just a few of the highlights locals and visitors can look forward while visiting the Laidley Recreational Reserve during the 61st annual Laidley Spring Festival.
While an array of events will be held throughout the township from September 6-8, the Reserve will become the main Festival Precinct where the community can gather to shop for bargains, enjoy toe-tapping tunes, and feast on mouth-watering bites.
With a jam-packed program of events scheduled, Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan, said there would be something for everyone to enjoy.
“If you love music, shopping and tasty food, the Laidley Recreational Reserve will be the place to be,” she said.
“As you make your way throughout the Festival Precinct, you will be lifted by the rhythms of our talented musicians and amazed by the wonderful roving performers, who will add a touch of whimsy and wonder to the festival’s atmosphere.
“Be sure to also bring your reusable shopping bags because there will be plenty of unique products and one-of-a-kind finds to captivate every shopper’s heart at the bustling market stalls.
“Then to top it all off, treat your tastebuds to a smorgasbord of delectable flavours including international and local cuisines.”
Included in the stage program will be a number of well-known local and regional artists including country music singer songwriter Tate Cole, Rheanna Leschke Trio, and Summers and Ainsworth.
Although he has played at multiple venues throughout the Lockyer Valley, up-and-coming country music star Tate Cole said he was excited to bring his sound to the Laidley Spring Festival for the first time.
“Our music blends different parts of traditional, 90s and modern country to generate our own sound, which will encourage the audience to join in and dance,” Tate said.
“Some of my favourite songs to perform include Callin’ Baton Rouge by Garth Brooks, Fake ID by Big and Rich, and The Show by Jarrod Morris.”
The Crack Up Sisters, who are known for their big props, aerial antics, and hilarious gags that you never see coming, will also bring their brand-new EXTRAordinary Tent Show and Museum of Oddities to the festival.
Audiences can expect to be wowed, delighted, and surprised during the 15-minute shows, which will be shown to 30 people at a time.
People waiting outside will also be entertained by the festival’s lively performers before they go inside the EXTRAordinary Tent.
If you’re in the mood to shop till you drop, market coordinator Julie Hewitt says there will be around 70 market stalls to peruse.
“Whether you’re looking for clothing, accessories, handbags, pet accessories, leather goods, metal artwork, candles, wooden toys, or homemade goodies like jams and relishes, you will find all of these plus much more,” Julie said.
“I am also looking after all the food trucks that will be there, and they will be selling every culinary delight you can think of.
“There will be lots of different cuisines from around the world, as well as family favourites like churros, baked goods, ice cream and a good old-fashioned sausage sizzle.”
The Laidley Spring Festival is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland.
The event is also made possible thanks to the Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Kambu Health, Pohlmans Nursery, Urban Utilities, Australian Organic Farmers, The Lockyer and Somerset Independent, and River 94.9.
