Foodies and music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy an evening under the twinkling lights with live music, foods trucks, and a boutique makers market when Twilight Feast and Fest returns to the Laidley Recreational Reserve on Friday, September 6.
Held on the first night of the Laidley Spring Festival (September 6-8), this free family-friendly event will feature an expanded Friday night program so you can kickstart your spring-inspired weekend off in style.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan, is encouraging families to dust off the picnic rug and join in the festivities.
“The Twilight Feast and Fest is an opportunity to throw out the picnic rug, treat your tastebuds to an array of delicious cuisines, purchase some beautiful wares from the local stallholders, and discover your new favourite band,” Cr Milligan said.
“Being on a Friday night, it’s the perfect opportunity to wind down after the week with your family and friends and enjoy this amazing much-loved festival, which is a highlight on Queensland’s tourism calendar.”
The night will kick off with the contemporary-folk melodies of local singer-songwriter Peta Pomerenke, who is known for her indi-folk and country sound.
Audiences will also be able to sing along to some of the greatest songs from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond with the talented singers from The Memphis Moovers, whose repertoire spans classic R&B hits to modern chart toppers and includes artists such as the Doobie Brothers, Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga, Pink, Blondie and more!
Headlining the main stage will be The 78 Sound, a powerhouse band from Queensland’s Darling Downs, who are currently racking up miles and fans performing at festivals and events across Queensland including the Boulia Camel Races, Warwick Rodeo, Blue Skies Festival and Wild As Country Parties.
Starring brothers Ben, Clayton and Morgan, the boys are third generation country musicians who proudly carry on the family trade.
Oldest brother Ben said they’ll be bringing the magic of a high energy country performance.
“Our sets will include plenty of songs that are lighting up your current playlist, and those that are time-tested country favourites!”
He encouraged festival goers to join the Twilight Feast & Fest party.
“There’s nothing like live music on a Friday night to set the vibe for a fabulous weekend, so come on down, bring your dancing shoes, probably your boots, and enjoy the tunes and tuck into some great eats! What’s not to love about all of that and great entertainment under a star-studded country sky?”
With dozens of food trucks on site, there will be plenty of dishes to choose from to satisfy your rumbling tummy and tastebuds.
If you’re looking to take home a memento of your trip, be sure to browse the many market stalls selling everything from clothing through to jewellery, arts and crafts, toys, smallgoods, and more.
The twilight makers market will give you a taste of what's to come at the Saturday Country market. This is also your opportunity to chat to the makers in person about their products and know that if you do purchase something, you are supporting small business, right here in Queensland.
Twilight Feast and Fest will be held from 5-10pm at the Laidley Recreational Reserve, located on Whites Road, Laidley.
Now in its 61st year, the Laidley Spring Festival is Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s flagship event, bringing an influx of visitors from Queensland and interstate to experience the Lockyer Valley’s natural beauty, amazing produce and local talent over three big days from September 6-8.
The Laidley Spring Festival is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, and made possible thanks to the Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Pohlmans Nursery, The Lockyer & Somerset Independent, and River 94.9.
