st saviour's Anglican Church, laidley

28 Ambrose St, Laidley

The Laidley Anglican Church is 113 years old this year! The Foundation stone was laid on 15 November 1909 by the Archdeacon of Toowoomba A.R. Rivers.

The Church is an example of Gothic architecture and possibly the first church in Australia to be constructed with reinforced cement.

Stroll through this historic church and be impressed by the architecture that has stood the test of time and flower displays from past weddings held in the church.

Don't forget to check out the function centre behind the church where you will find an 'Inside Out Art Exhibition' put together by a group of spectacular artists.

Susan Dryden will showcase her ‘interiors’ oil paintings which feature quiet spaces for the viewer to step into and find peace. Susan also paints landscapes which are more expressive in style to reveal the layers of the natural setting. Sue has exhibited in Brisbane, Regional Qld Galleries and New Zealand.

Helen Richards creates whimsical colourful acrylic stylised landscapes with animals in rainforest, bush and mangroves settings. An established artist, her works are in collections from Cairns to Melbourne.

Josie Birchall is a multi-award winning artist who has been exhibiting and selling artworks nationwide since 2008. Her art is concept based and she works predominately in oils but compliments this with photographic and printmaking works.

Summerholm Studio the mother and daughter trio all share a strong passion to create ceramics and are showcasing their work and the wonders of their favourite material- CLAY, with ceramics. Workshops and private lessons starting from beginner level are available upon enquiry.
